We are excited to announce that the AFRL Scholars Professionals (SPs) Program is now recruiting talented Archival and Library Science early-career graduates for a unique fellowship opportunity supporting the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) mission for a minimum of one year. Pay includes full benefits.
Description of Fellowship:
AFOSR is seeking a Master’s or PhD level archivist who will work as a Fellow at AFOSR to develop a digital archival database supporting the AFOSR Basic Research mission. Based in Arlington, Virginia, this Fellow will be able to access records of AFOSR at the National Archives (NARA) in College Park, MD, the Federal Records Center in Suitland, MD, and other archives and records centers. The Fellow will use archival science, librarian science, and data science knowledge and skills to search for the records, examine the records, and assist AFOSR staff in creating a database of the records. The Fellow will work closely with the AFOSR Historian of Science, Science Analytics team, and others to identify, retrieve, digitize, and catalog records of interest to AFOSR in tracking its history of funding basic science discovery. The archivist will be asked to particularly focus on finding records from 1966-1986.
Tentative Fellowship Dates: June 2026 through mid-December 2026
AFRL Scholars Professionals (SPs) offers recent college graduates comprehensive research opportunities to contribute broadly to the advancement of the U.S. Department of the Air Force. Selected SPs will work in synergy with scientists and engineers on select research focus areas that closely align with AFRL’s objectives to meet current scientific and technical needs.
