SCELC is seeking an experienced and visionary Digital Collections Program Manager to lead the development of new consortial digital collections initiatives. This is a high-impact role for a digital collections professional with a strong record of managing digital repositories, digital special collections, and archives in academic library environments. The successful candidate will lead community engagement, migrations, system administration and project management in support of digital collections that promote access, equity, preservation, and innovation across SCELC member libraries. As part of the SCELC strategic plan to enhance the visibility and support our strategic services model, SCELC has recently partnered with JSTOR to subsidize and deliver access to their Digital Stewardship Services and has a goal to develop shared infrastructure and staffing to provide continuity and sustainability for our Member libraries’ digital collections programs. This role reports to the Director of Strategic Library Services and Communications and collaborates with other SCELC staff to develop strategic, resilient, and scalable solutions for our Member libraries.
Required Qualifications:
ALA accredited graduate degree in library or information science
Minimum of 5 years of experience managing digital collections or institutional repositories in an academic or research library setting.
Demonstrated experience with one or more digital collections platforms (e.g., JSTOR, CONTENTdm, DSpace, etc.), metadata standards (e.g., Dublin Core, MODS, METS), and digitization best practices.
Demonstrated ability to manage large scale projects and excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
Strong understanding of discovery, interoperability, and access mechanisms for digital assets.
Proven ability to lead complex, collaborative projects and to work with diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with linked data technologies (e.g., BIBFRAME, RDF) and semantic web applications in libraries.
Knowledge of the role of AI in digital collections, metadata automation, or discovery tools.
Experience with vendor and partner relations, including working with platforms like JSTOR, Portico, or other scholarly content aggregators.
