This position has overall responsibility for creating physical and intellectual control over incoming manuscripts and governmental records in all formats and media for purposes of public access and permanent preservation. The incumbent performs physical and intellectual reorganization, preservation housing, inventorying, photocopying, and digitizing; processing complexity and conservation needs; and prioritizes processing based on legal or preservation needs, donor negotiations, public relations, and anticipated use. The processing archivist participates in the planning and execution of projects and ensures that collections are available to museum staff and the public.
