OSU Libraries and Press is recruiting for an Associate Dean of Libraries (ADL). The ADL brings expertise and experience with library management and works closely with the Dean of Libraries to shape a sustainable long-term vision for library services at Oregon State University, an R1 and Land, Sea, Space, and Sun Grant institution. The ADL is a member of the Library Administration department and supervises the five heads of the departments responsible for core library functions: collections, public services, technology, research and learning, and special collections and archives. The ADL is also a key member of the Library Administration, Management and Planning group (LAMP) - department heads and directors, library administrators, and representatives from the Library Faculty Association (LFA) and Classified Staff Association (CSA) - who discuss and act on broad organizational issues. The ADL helps create a healthy and sustainable work environment for library workers, fosters communication between library units, and engages in reflective and transparent decision-making.

Qualifications
MLS from an ALA-accredited program or international equivalent.
Progressively responsible management experience including a minimum of three years as a department head/equivalent or higher in an academic or research library.
Experience with budget preparation, financial stewardship, and strategic financial planning in an academic library.
Experience with personnel management, and supervision of staff including hiring, training, onboarding, performance evaluation, conflict resolution, and supporting professional growth.
Experience helping library leaders solve complicated administrative or supervisory problems, using appropriate data and input, and applying relevant library or university policies.
Experience with strategic planning and managing change in organizations, including the ability to set priorities, tolerate uncertainty and resolve competing demands.
Experience facilitating a workplace culture of transparency, collaboration, and robust communication that supports organizational change and decision making.
Record of contribution to a workplace culture that is equitable, inclusive and supports the retention of diverse staff.
Record of contribution to the professional community in academic librarianship that includes some combination of publications, presentations, committee work, formal leadership positions, grant/publication reviewing, development of standards or best practices, or conference planning.
Experience working collaboratively and developing partnerships with academic departments, other campus units and library consortia.
Ability to facilitate productive and equitable meetings in person and on virtual platforms (retreats, strategic planning, department work meetings).
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
