Position Summary Under the direction of the Archivist, assist with archival collections maintenance, curatorial research, and archival access.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with all aspects of managing and providing access to the Institute’s Archives (90%)
- Provide support for routine collections maintenance activities including stabilizing and housing archival collections, accessioning new acquisitions, and arranging and describing collections regardless of format in accordance with national archival standards and best practices.
- Under the direction of the Archivist, participate in curatorial research to support collection development and curatorial outreach efforts, including pop-up displays, exhibitions, events, and special projects.
- Assist the Archivist in responding to on-site and remote reference requests, including providing in-depth research on questions related to Institute archives and special collections.
- Support efforts to create enhanced access for collection materials by supporting routine scanning for access, digitization for preservation, and additional efforts to enhance collections data and metadata.
All other duties as assigned by the Archivist (10%)

- Administrative, office and computer experience.
Additional Responsibilities
- Working under the guidance of, and in collaboration with, the Archivist, supervise the work of summer students and interns.
Education, Experience and Knowledge
- Master’s degree in Library or Information Science or equivalent experience required.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as to responsibly enhancing representation for marginalized groups.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong customer service orientation.
- Office and computer software skills (Word, WordPerfect) required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and share expertise with others required.
