Assistant or Associate Professor, Processing and Outreach Archivist, Library

Job Description or Duties: This position reports to the University Archivist and Digital Repository Manager. The Processing and Outreach Archivist (POA) is responsible for organizing, preserving, and publicizing University Archives resources. With guidance from the University Archivist, the person in this position is responsible for processing and preserving materials, as well as for recommending policy. The POA assists with Archives and Special Collections reference, creation of exhibits, and outreach. May assist with supervising student employees and interns. As part of the Calvin T. Ryan Library faculty, assists with user services. This is a 12-month, tenure-track faculty position. Archives:

Required Qualifications: ALA-accredited Master’s degree with an archives specialization or equivalent. Experience processing archival / special collections materials, either professionally or as part of an internship, practicum or other similar experience. Experience planning exhibits and/or engaging in outreach. Evidence of effective project planning, management, and completion. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Commitment to achieving tenure under Board of Regents, University and Library guidelines and standards. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated expertise in processing archival / special collections materials. Demonstrated commitment to user-focused services and collections. Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and implement projects, independently and with teams. Experience engaging diverse communities. Experience conducting reference interviews and providing archives & special collections reference. Experience with relevant technology platforms associated with special and archival collections (e.g., ArchivesSpace, ArchiveIt, Omeka). Experience using metadata standards such as Dublin Core, EAD, METS, MODS, PREMIS, or DACS. Education and/or experience with rare books. |
