ALA is seeking a Project Archivist as part of the ALA Offices and Member Relations (AOMR) department.
Reporting to the Associate Executive Director of AOMR, the Project Archivist will manage transition activities related to the ALA records and archive management project. The incumbent will work collaboratively with staff across all ALA units and staff in providing guidance in the archiving of their print and digital materials. This assignment will last from September – January 2020.
Key responsibilities include the following: • Serves as project manager for the ALA archives records management project
• Provides guidance to ALA staff across all units in archiving of their print and digital materials
• Serves as primary liaison with the ALA Archives staff at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign regarding digital archiving, including the ALA Institutional Repository (ALAIR) and the web archive
• Provides direction to Interns in order to accomplish these tasks, as appropriate
MLS from ALA-accredited program or Archival Studies OR equivalent education and experience (relevant subject expertise combined with professional library education and/or experience); 1 year + experience in archives and/or special libraries; excellent communication and writing skills; knowledge of institutional repositories a plus.
